Nepal’s Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Sita Badi, held a meeting with a delegation from UN Women led by Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director for Normative Support, Ms. Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda. The discussion focused on gender equality, women’s empowerment, social inclusion, leadership opportunities for women, and the protection of marginalized communities in Nepal.
During the meeting, Minister Badi highlighted the ministry’s priorities and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the rights of women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and disadvantaged groups while ensuring equal access to opportunities.
UN Women officials expressed their commitment to continuing cooperation with the Government of Nepal in areas related to inclusive development and women’s empowerment. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Christine Arab, Regional Director of UN Women Asia and the Pacific, and Ms. Patricia Fernández-Pacheco, Country Representative of UN Women Nepal.
