The Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security has asked municipalities and rural municipalities across Nepal to organize activities marking the 20th National Day Against Human Trafficking and Transportation, 2083. The observance is scheduled for Bhadra 20 and will focus on increasing public awareness about trafficking risks and prevention.
This year’s campaign carries the national slogan “Proper Use of Technology and Awareness: Building a Nation Free from Human Trafficking.” The theme reflects growing concern over the use of digital platforms, online communication and technology in recruitment, deception and exploitation linked to trafficking.
Local governments have been encouraged to organize creative, informative and message-oriented programmes in coordination with ward offices, schools and community institutions. The ministry has emphasized activities that can strengthen public understanding of trafficking, promote prevention and encourage communities to recognize and report suspicious practices.
The national observance commemorates Nepal’s anti-trafficking commitment linked to the 11th SAARC Summit and the SAARC Convention on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Women and Children for Prostitution, while reinforcing the government’s broader campaign against human trafficking and exploitation.
