The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has circulated a request to all local governments to coordinate participation in land management training programmes conducted by the Land Management Training Centre in Dhulikhel. The initiative is aimed at improving the capacity of local officials and technical personnel as responsibilities for land administration increasingly shift to the local level.
The training package covers both long-term and short-term courses in areas including land administration, land-use planning, cadastral and land mapping, valuation, land banking, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and LiDAR. It also includes practical modules designed according to the specific needs and working responsibilities of municipalities and rural municipalities.
The centre has also proposed on-demand capacity development and land literacy programmes, including orientation for elected representatives, staff and citizens. These programmes are intended to improve understanding of land laws, land records, land-use planning, public land management, dispute prevention and the use of modern geospatial technology in local development.
Local governments have been asked to identify their training needs, nominate relevant staff and coordinate with the centre so programmes can be organized based on local demand, available human resources and operational priorities. The move is intended to build stronger institutional capacity for more efficient, transparent and technology-based land governance across Nepal.
