A meeting of Nepal government secretaries held on Asoj 5, 2083 has directed authorities to strengthen road management and market monitoring in the aftermath of recent disasters. The meeting instructed concerned agencies to ensure roads remain unobstructed during the Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals and to keep emergency manpower, resources, machinery and equipment ready for immediate deployment. It also called for effective joint market monitoring to control black marketing, artificial shortages and other improper commercial activities during the festive period.
The meeting also decided to strengthen monitoring of Cabinet decisions through the Cabinet Decision Implementation Monitoring System (CDIMS). Ministries and agencies will be required to enter implementation progress into the system and submit monthly progress reports to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The meeting further directed implementation of recommendations and instructions contained in reports of constitutional bodies and parliamentary committees.
On disaster recovery, the meeting instructed agencies to provide necessary manpower to the National Planning Commission to complete the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) of damage caused by the recent Bhote Koshi flood on time. It also directed ministries and agencies to follow the law-making procedures prescribed by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and ensure effective coordination when bills concern multiple government bodies.
