The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration issued the circular to all ministries, commissions, secretariats, provincial Chief Minister and Council of Ministers offices, and local governments. The directive follows a request from the National Vigilance Centre, which asked the ministry to circulate instructions concerning the use of official dress and identification cards by employees working in public institutions.
Under the directive, civil servants must wear the dress prescribed by the Government of Nepal in the specified style and color during office hours. They must also wear or carry the official identity card issued by their respective office, making employee identification mandatory while performing official duties.
The ministry has asked all concerned public bodies to make the necessary arrangements to enforce the requirement consistently. The notice was issued on 16 July 2026, with the National Vigilance Centre and the ministry’s Information Technology Branch also copied for follow-up and publication.
