The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has issued a circular concerning the deployment of nutrition facilitators at local level. The instruction is linked to implementation of Nepal’s Third Multisector Nutrition Plan (FY 2080/81–2087/88), which seeks to improve nutrition outcomes through coordinated interventions involving multiple sectors and tiers of government.

The ministry states that funding for the remuneration of nutrition facilitators already appointed or to be appointed at local levels has been included under the conditional fiscal transfer for FY 2083/84. The facilitators are expected to support effective implementation of the multisector nutrition programme at the local level.

Local governments have been asked to manage, assess and deploy the nutrition facilitators in accordance with the Multisector Nutrition Programme Implementation Procedure, 2082 and ensure that they are mobilized for the duties prescribed under the programme. The circular was also copied to the Ministry of Finance’s Budget and Programme Division and the Office of the Auditor General for information and coordination.
