Nepal Signs Loan Agreement with ADB to Improve Digital Transformation

The Government of Nepal and the Asian Development Bank have signed an important loan agreement to support Nepal’s digital transformation program. The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Finance by Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyaya and ADB Country Director Arnaud Cauchois.

According to the Finance Ministry, the project will help modernize Nepal’s public digital systems, strengthen institutional capacity, and improve access to digital public services. It will support the government’s 16th periodic plan and help make public service delivery more efficient, transparent and technology-friendly.

The project will focus on building digital platforms, improving cybersecurity, strengthening data systems, and developing human resources. The ministry said the agreement is an important step toward implementing Nepal’s digital reform agenda and expanding citizen-focused digital services.
