The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has released its proactive disclosure covering Kartik to Poush of FY 2082/83, outlining progress across industrial development, investment, commerce, supply management and company administration. The ministry advanced implementation of the automatic route for foreign investment, continued work on startup-related programmes and investment facilitation, and moved forward with policy and legal reforms intended to improve Nepal’s industrial and business environment.
On the trade front, Nepal continued work related to its Third Trade Policy Review, pursued continuation of Duty-Free Quota-Free access under the Nepal Trade Preference Program, and engaged in bilateral and multilateral discussions covering Nepal-China border trade, trade and payment arrangements, safeguard and countervailing measures, and export competitiveness. The ministry also reported progress on the Trade Logistics Master Plan, improvements linked to the Birgunj ICP-ICD, and simplification of certificate-of-origin procedures.
Digitalization remained a major reform area. The report says the Company Administration Management Information System (CAMIS) continued to be strengthened, while old company records were digitized and company administration processes were made more technology-based. Work also continued on a new company law, corporate governance reforms, beneficial ownership-related administration and a Trade Facilitation Clinic to assist businesses and service users.
The ministry also reported activities in industrial registration, mines and geology, intellectual property, quality certification, Nepal Standards, market monitoring and consumer protection. Alongside ongoing policy revisions, it pursued productivity planning, tourism and wellness-related capacity building, industrial infrastructure and programmes designed to promote domestic production and exports, presenting the second trimester as another phase of regulatory modernization and investment-focused economic reform.
