The Government of Nepal has approved revised salary scales, grades, technical grades and incentive benefits for public employees, effective from Shrawan 1, 2083. The decision was taken by the Council of Ministers at its meeting on 2083/04/06 and communicated by the Ministry of Finance’s Budget and Programme Division. The new provisions apply to civil servants, the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, Health Service, Parliament Service, community school teachers, and employees working at provincial and local levels for pension-related purposes.

Under the decision, employees covered by the eight attached salary schedules will receive the prescribed new salary scale and grade structure, with the grade amount set at the equivalent of one day’s salary. The government has also provided for a monthly incentive allowance equal to 10% of the salary maintained after the applicable increment, alongside provisions for technical grades where relevant. The schedules specify starting salaries, the number and rate of grades, and the resulting maximum salary for different posts and ranks.

The detailed schedules cover a wide range of positions, from senior government officials and administrative staff to military, police and armed police ranks, health workers, parliamentary employees and community school teachers. Separate tables also provide salary structures for provincial and local-level employees, while certain categories include special grade arrangements based on previous appointment or salary provisions. The Ministry of Finance has directed all ministries, commissions, secretariats and offices to implement the approved scales and benefits from the beginning of the new fiscal period.
