The Ministry of Finance has published a notice asking concerned stakeholders and the public to submit feedback on a draft bill prepared to amend several Nepal laws related to money laundering control. The ministry said the draft has been made available on its website, and suggestions can be sent to info@mof.gov.np within seven days from the date of publication.
According to the document, the proposed bill aims to address legal gaps identified in Nepal’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing framework. It seeks to align Nepal’s laws with international standards, improve investigation and enforcement capacity, and support effective implementation of laws related to financial crimes.
The draft proposes amendments to different laws, including provisions related to customs, human trafficking, asset laundering, corruption control and other financial crime-related areas. The ministry has requested all concerned individuals, institutions and stakeholders to study the draft and provide constructive suggestions within the given deadline.
