Share

Summary:

The Home Ministry has directed security personnel assigned as personal security officers outside the provisions of the government’s security procedure to return to their respective agencies within seven days, while inviting the public to report unauthorized deployments.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a public notice targeting the unauthorized deployment of personal security personnel under the Security Management Procedure for Distinguished and Highly Distinguished Persons, 2081. The ministry said it has been working to recall security personnel assigned beyond the limits and conditions prescribed by the procedure.

According to the notice, some security personnel deployed for personal protection have reportedly been used for household, domestic or other private work unrelated to official security duties. The ministry has instructed all personnel deployed contrary to the procedure to report back to their respective security organizations within seven days from the publication of the notice.

The ministry has also asked members of the public to provide information or lodge complaints if security personnel continue to be deployed unlawfully or are being used for private activities. It has published official contact channels for such complaints and requested citizens to cooperate with the government’s effort to regulate the use of state security personnel.

The move is aimed at ensuring that government security resources are used strictly according to established criteria, preventing misuse of personnel for private purposes and strengthening accountability in the deployment of personal security officers.
