Health Ministry Orders Hospitals to Verify Land Boundaries and Remove Encroachments

Share

Summary:

Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene has directed hospitals and health institutions to verify the boundaries of land under their ownership, remove illegal encroachments and strengthen protection of government property.

The Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene has issued a follow-up circular to hospitals, health science academies, councils and other institutions under the ministry, instructing them to take immediate action to protect land and physical infrastructure under their ownership. The directive follows a ministry decision dated Baisakh 30, 2083, after earlier instructions had not yet been fully implemented by all institutions.

Institutions have been asked to verify whether the boundaries of hospital-owned land match officially approved cadastral maps, and to prepare details of any unauthorized structures or encroachments found on the property. The ministry has asked the institutions to submit information on completed actions within three days through its designated communication channel.

Where encroachment is identified, hospitals must issue a written notice to the concerned individual or organization with a fixed deadline for removal. If the order is ignored, institutions are instructed to coordinate with the District Administration Office, local government and security agencies to clear the encroachment and restore the hospital’s possession of the land. Areas already cleared or remaining vacant must be protected against future occupation through measures such as compound walls or fencing, with land ownership documents and cadastral records updated and securely maintained through the relevant land revenue and survey offices.
