The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a notice regarding the refund of security deposits retained in connection with various construction, procurement and maintenance works carried out in previous fiscal years through FY 2081/82. The ministry said some individuals, firms, institutions and offices whose contract periods and purposes have already been completed have still not requested the return of their deposits. They have therefore been asked to submit refund applications during office hours within seven days of the notice published on Baisakh 24, 2083.

Applicants must submit the documents required under Rule 66 of the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility Regulations, 2077, including a formal application, a copy or original of the receipt showing the purpose for which the deposit was made, and applicable tax-clearance documentation. Where tax was deducted from a payment, the relevant tax-adjustment document for the bill must also be attached. The ministry warned that deposits whose required retention period and purpose have ended may be forfeited and credited to government revenue under Rule 68 if no valid refund claim is filed within the specified period.

The attached deposit ledger for FY 2082/83 lists numerous firms and individuals with outstanding balances. According to the table, total deposits recorded amount to about Rs 3.00 million, of which approximately Rs 351,645 had been refunded and Rs 40,000 written off, leaving an outstanding balance of roughly Rs 2.61 million. The ministry has advised concerned parties to check the detailed list and contact its finance section for further information.
