Nepal Launches Online Vehicle Registration Service for Tourists Entering by Road

Summary:

Tourists entering Nepal by land can now register their foreign vehicles and pay required revenue online before travel.\n\nNews Summary:

The Ministry of Finance has announced that foreign vehicles used by tourists entering Nepal through land routes can now be registered online. The system allows tourists, including Indian visitors and third-country tourists coming via India, to fill in vehicle details and pay the required revenue digitally before entering Nepal.

According to the ministry, the Department of Customs developed and implemented the online system to make border entry easier, reduce physical paperwork, and improve public service delivery. Earlier, tourists had to reach the customs point physically, obtain temporary permits, and renew them by visiting customs offices during travel.

Under the new system, tourists can submit details through the customs website, make online or bank payments, receive a QR code by email, and show it at the border to enter Nepal. The ministry expects the service to especially benefit tourists coming from India and Bangladesh by making vehicle entry faster, simpler and more transparent.
