Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Poudel held a joint courtesy meeting at the ministry on 29 April 2026 with United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nepal Ms. Lila Pieters Yahia, UNESCO Representative to Nepal Mr. Jacodu Toit, and UNDP Resident Representative Ms. Kyoko Yokosuka.
During the meeting, the UN representatives congratulated the new Government of Nepal and Minister Poudel, wishing him a successful tenure. They also expressed appreciation for the Government of Nepal’s positive cooperation in various past and ongoing programs supported by the United Nations system.
The discussion focused on continued cooperation in areas such as climate change impact reduction, mountain conservation, clean water systems, tourism development, cultural heritage promotion and Himalayan heritage protection. The meeting was seen as an opportunity to further strengthen Nepal’s partnership with the United Nations and contribute to the country’s economic and social development, including through the tourism sector.
