Health Ministry Warns Private Hospitals and Medical Colleges Over Minimum Pay for Health Workers

Summary:

The Health Ministry has directed private medical and dental colleges and hospitals to provide health workers the agreed minimum remuneration and service facilities.

The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a letter regarding the payment of minimum remuneration and service facilities to workers and health professionals employed in private medical and dental colleges and hospitals.

According to the ministry, an agreement had earlier been reached on 2082/07/15 with stakeholders regarding minimum salary and facilities. However, the ministry said it has received complaints that some private medical and dental colleges and hospitals have not been providing the agreed minimum remuneration to their health workers.

The ministry has asked concerned associations and institutions to ensure the effective implementation of the agreement. It has also warned that if the agreement is not implemented as per the Labour Act and existing laws, necessary action will be taken through the concerned authorities.

The letter has been copied to private and community hospitals as well as medical and dental colleges for implementation.
