The Government of Nepal has announced an open application process for chairperson and member positions on recommendation committees for vice-chancellor appointments at seven universities. According to a notice first published on Ashoj 1, 2083 BS, the Ministry of Education and Sports has invited eligible and interested individuals to apply in accordance with the relevant university acts. The notice covers Nepal Sanskrit University, Purbanchal University, Sudurpashchim University, Madhyapashchim University, Agriculture and Forestry University, Rajarshi Janak University and Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University. The initiative seeks to constitute recommendation committees responsible for facilitating leadership appointments at these higher education institutions.

The ministry has instructed applicants to submit their applications within seven days of the notice’s first publication, during official working hours, to the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education and Sports at Singha Durbar, Kathmandu. Candidates must provide their personal details in the prescribed format, along with certified copies of their academic qualification certificates, proof of Nepali citizenship and documents verifying previous professional positions or service experience. The selection of committee chairpersons and members will be governed by the respective legal provisions of each university.

The notice concerns the formation of recommendation committees rather than direct recruitment of university vice-chancellors. It does not specify the total number of committee vacancies, detailed assessment criteria or final appointment dates. The application process is intended to support the constitution of legally authorized committees that will subsequently recommend candidates for university leadership positions.
