The Government of Nepal has taken serious note of the incident that occurred on Shrawan 10, 2083 B.S. in Ward No. 3 of Devanganj Rural Municipality, Sunsari District, and the subsequent situation that arose in several districts of eastern Nepal.

The Government expresses heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives and wishes the injured persons and security personnel a speedy recovery.

The Ministry of Health and Population has arranged free medical treatment for all injured persons.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed an investigation committee to establish the facts, recommend measures to prevent similar incidents, and submit its report within seven days.

The Government is committed to providing appropriate compensation to the victims and taking strict legal action against those responsible.

The Government believes that no problem, grievance, or dispute can be resolved through violence or confrontation. It appeals to all concerned not to engage in activities that disturb Nepal’s long-standing tradition of religious tolerance, mutual unity, and social harmony, nor to spread or be influenced by rumors or misleading information.

The Government further calls upon all political parties, civil society, religious organizations, the media, and the general public to work together to maintain peace, law and order, social harmony, and religious tolerance throughout the country.
