The second meeting of the Nepal–Norway Bilateral Consultation Mechanism was held in Kathmandu on 25 May 2026, reviewing the full range of relations between the two countries. Nepal appreciated Norway’s continued support in its development efforts, while both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Nepal briefed the Norwegian side on the country’s current political situation and the new government’s priorities, including good governance, anti-corruption and efficient public service delivery. Nepal also highlighted hydropower, tourism and information technology as key sectors for economic growth.
The two sides discussed cooperation in basic and primary education, renewable energy, climate resilience, green economy, clean energy transition and electric mobility. Nepal also requested Norway’s engagement in hydropower generation and transmission network development.
Both sides exchanged views on regional and global issues, including implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, multilateralism, rules-based international order, and joint contributions to global peace and stability. The Nepali delegation was led by Joint Secretary Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, while the Norwegian delegation was led by Director General Signe Brudeset.
