The Government of Nepal has instructed government hospitals, health institutions and subordinate agencies to submit updated details of vacant positions within three days to facilitate the recruitment process under the Public Service Commission’s approved annual recruitment schedule. According to an official notice issued by the Ministry of Health and Population on Kartik 9, 2083 BS, the ministry is collecting information on vacancies in the civil service and government health service for fiscal year 2083/84 BS. The directive specifically covers Gazetted Third Class positions in the civil service and seventh- and eighth-level positions in the health service, enabling the ministry to prepare the necessary recruitment requisitions.
The ministry has requested concerned institutions to provide information about approved staffing positions, employees currently serving and unfilled vacancies across different services, groups, subgroups and job categories. The notice instructs institutions to submit the prescribed requisition form along with the relevant staffing information. The required details include service category, group or subgroup, classification, position, total approved posts, employees currently working, vacant posts and the number of positions requested for recruitment. Institutions must also specify the nature of vacancies, distinguishing between positions vacated through promotion, retirement or other circumstances, and provide relevant details concerning the employees whose departure created the vacancies.
The directive has been circulated to numerous government healthcare institutions, including the Department of Health Services, Department of Drug Administration, Department of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine, National Public Health Laboratory, National Health Training Centre, National Health Education, Information and Communication Centre, National Tuberculosis Control Centre, National Ayurveda Research and Training Centre and several federal hospitals. Major institutions receiving the notice include Bir Hospital, Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Kanti Children’s Hospital, Mental Hospital Lagankhel, Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre and B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, among others. The broad circulation is intended to ensure that relevant government health institutions provide the necessary staffing information for recruitment planning.
All concerned offices have been instructed to submit the completed vacancy details and recruitment requisition forms within three days of the notice, through the ministry’s official email address, admin@mohp.gov.np. The ministry’s Administration and Human Resource Management Division will use the submitted information to coordinate the process of filling vacant positions in accordance with the Public Service Commission’s annual schedule. The notice does not announce an open recruitment examination, application deadline for job seekers or a confirmed number of vacancies. Instead, it represents a preparatory administrative step toward identifying staffing requirements and facilitating future recruitment in Nepal’s public healthcare system.
