The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has expressed deep sorrow over casualties and property damage caused by landslides following continuous rainfall in Rolpa. According to the press release, landslides struck areas of Thawang Rural Municipality-5 and Sunchhahari Rural Municipality-2 on the nights of Shrawan 27 and 28, 2083, killing 15 people. Two others were injured and another two were reported missing, while several private homes, cattle sheds and small roadside shops were also damaged.

Search and rescue operations were launched under the leadership of the Rolpa Chief District Officer, with the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and local residents working together. Authorities said the search for the missing people was continuing. The two injured victims were transferred to Lumbini Provincial Hospital in Butwal for further treatment after receiving initial medical care.

The government paid tribute to those who lost their lives, extended condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery. Under the Disaster-Sensitive Social Security and Relief Distribution Standards, 2081, families of the deceased will receive financial assistance, while provisions have also been made for relief in missing-person cases and for families whose homes were damaged, including immediate assistance, temporary shelter and support for private-house reconstruction. The government has also urged residents in disaster-prone areas to remain alert as monsoon-related risks continue.
