The Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund has received a total of Rs 15.54 billion in assistance for rescue and relief efforts following the Bhotekoshi flood, according to an official update released on September 24. The government has also issued details on the sources of the contributions, because apparently even disaster relief eventually becomes an accounting spreadsheet.
Of the total assistance, NCHL contributed about Rs 6.43 billion, accounting for roughly 42.4 percent of the amount received, while Fonepay contributed around Rs 2.57 billion, or 16.5 percent. Another Rs 2.74 billion, representing about 17.6 percent, was transferred directly to the finance minister.
Foreign assistance accounted for approximately 24.5 percent of the total support. The update shows overseas contributions of about USD 24.85 million, equivalent to roughly Rs 3.80 billion. Together, these domestic and international contributions brought total relief assistance to around Rs 15.54 billion.
