The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has circulated a directive to all local governments to mark World Humanitarian Day 2026 on August 19. The instruction follows a request from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority and calls for participation and public awareness activities at provincial and local levels.
According to the notice, this year’s observance is being promoted with a message emphasizing solidarity for stronger communities and preparedness for humanitarian action. Local governments have been asked to organize appropriate activities, disseminate the humanitarian message and contribute to wider public awareness on disaster preparedness and humanitarian response.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said the decision to promote World Humanitarian Day nationwide was taken through its national-level coordination mechanism, with provincial and local governments requested to support implementation. The campaign is intended to reinforce cooperation, humanitarian responsibility and community preparedness in the face of disasters and emergencies.
