Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal Heads to Fiji, Tuvalu and Australia for Climate and Bilateral Talks

Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal is set to leave for Fiji on October 3, 2026, leading a Nepali delegation to the Pre-COP Leaders’ Event scheduled in Fiji and Tuvalu on October 5–6. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khanal will deliver Nepal’s remarks at the Leaders’ Plenary on October 6.

Before the plenary session, Khanal is scheduled to take part in a media question-and-answer session alongside the President of Palau and the Prime Ministers of Australia and Fiji. The engagement will place Nepal in discussions linked to the international climate agenda ahead of the upcoming COP process.

Following the Pre-COP event, Khanal will travel to Australia, where he is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong on October 8. His visit will also include separate programmes organised by the Embassy of Nepal in Canberra and by the Nepali diaspora in Sydney.

The Foreign Minister is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on October 12, 2026, concluding a visit focused on climate diplomacy, bilateral engagement and outreach to Nepali communities abroad.
