Search and rescue operations continued for a 13th day on 7 September 2026 following the devastating Bhote Koshi River floods. Government agencies reported that 13,396 people have been rescued, including more than 300 foreigners, while around 5,000 people remain missing, including approximately 600 foreign nationals from 35 countries. The number of recovered bodies has reached 1,355. Four people have been rescued alive over the past four days, including two Nepalis from Upper Trishuli 3A, one Chinese national from Upper Trishuli 1 and one Nepali from Betrawati.
Specialized teams from India, China and South Korea continue working alongside the Nepali Army, while rescue teams from the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia have now joined operations. Search efforts remain concentrated around Upper Trishuli 1, Upper Trishuli 3A, Upper Trishuli 3B, Chilime, Rasuwagadhi and Langtang. Nepal has requested additional high-capacity drones, LiDAR equipment, Bailey bridges, DNA-testing kits, laboratory freezers, high-capacity pumps and specialized mud and tunnel-rescue suits.
Authorities are also restoring road, electricity and telecommunications links, including work on a temporary bridge over the Tadi River to reopen the Galchhi–Trishuli Road. The government is finalizing its Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA) and simultaneously conducting a broader Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) to determine total losses and reconstruction costs. International support continues from numerous countries and organizations, while Nepali missions abroad are collecting contributions for transfer to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Forensic teams from India, China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea are assisting Nepal Police with DNA collection and identification of recovered remains following temporary burial procedures. Meanwhile, 536 Nepali nationals had returned from China through Tatopani as of 6 September, with another 106 expected on 7 September.
