The Election Commission of Nepal has decided to conduct the voter list updating programme in accordance with the procedure specified under the Voter List Updating Procedure, 2081. The decision was made at a commission meeting held on 2083/04/15, with the process to be carried out according to the attached schedule.

Under the programme, provincial and district election offices have been instructed to begin detailed updating of voter lists for the local levels within their jurisdiction. The offices are to coordinate with local registrars and use available records on events such as marriage, migration and deaths to match and update corresponding voter information. The Commission has set 2083/05/15 as the deadline for completing this work.

The Commission has requested all local governments to provide the necessary support, coordination and facilitation to the concerned provincial and district election offices so that the voter-list updating programme can be implemented effectively. The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has circulated the request to all rural and urban municipalities.

The notice was also sent for information and coordination to the Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commissioners, the Election Commission Secretariat and all provincial/district election offices. The attached schedule outlines the activities and responsibilities related to the voter-list updating process.
