The Ministry of Home Affairs has selected three drug treatment and rehabilitation centres for financial assistance under the government’s grant programme for institutions working with people affected by drug use. According to the notice, 16 centres submitted applications following an earlier call published on the ministry’s website. Based on the recommendation of the selection committee and a secretary-level decision, three centres were approved for grants under the Grant Distribution Procedure for Drug User Treatment and Rehabilitation Centres, 2083.
The selected institutions are Samriddhi Pratisthan Nepal in Mechinagar-7, Jhapa, for programmes targeting drug users and food-preparation training; Shubharambha Pratisthan Nepal in Birtamod-7, Jhapa, for community awareness programmes and food-preparation training; and Sian Rehabilitation Centre in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-9, Makwanpur, for strengthening health services. Each centre will receive a grant of Rs 100,000, bringing the total approved assistance to Rs 300,000.
The ministry has asked the selected organisations to visit the Ministry of Home Affairs and sign the grant agreement within seven days from the publication of the notice. The assistance is intended to encourage and strengthen organisations providing treatment, rehabilitation, awareness and support services for people affected by drug use.
