Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Poudel held a courtesy meeting with the European Union Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Mrs. Veronique Lorenzo, at the ministry on 5 May 2026.
During the meeting, both sides discussed contemporary issues related to culture, tourism promotion and aviation safety. Minister Poudel highlighted Nepal’s cultural heritage, spiritual traditions and natural beauty, saying these provide a strong foundation to develop Nepal as a major destination for wellness and healing tourism.
The minister also informed the ambassador about Nepal’s efforts to improve aviation safety, strengthen the institutional capacity of civil aviation, and introduce policy reforms for tourism promotion, including wellness tourism. Ambassador Lorenzo congratulated the minister and expressed the EU’s commitment to cooperation in culture and tourism.
The ambassador also stated that removing Nepal from the EU aviation safety list is a shared goal of both Nepal and the European Union. The ministry said the meeting is expected to further strengthen Nepal–EU relations and open new opportunities for cooperation in culture, tourism and aviation safety.
