The Ministry of Home Affairs has published its third quarterly progress report for fiscal year 2082/83 under the Right to Information Act. The report covers the ministry’s activities from Magh to Chaitra 2082 and includes details on the ministry’s structure, responsibilities, services, decision-making process, officials, legal frameworks, income and expenditure, and work completed during the quarter.
According to the report, the ministry carried out work related to peace and security, local administration, citizenship management, human rights coordination, relief distribution, disaster management, election security, complaint handling and police administration. It also provided responses and inputs to several national and international human rights-related bodies, including matters connected to minority rights, migrants’ rights, torture prevention, internally displaced persons and terrorism-related human rights issues.
The ministry reported progress in digital governance, including the continued use of the Citizenship Information Management System across district, area and border administration offices. During the quarter, the system recorded over 159,000 new citizenship entries, more than 165,000 duplicate citizenship records, and over 20,000 handwritten citizenship entries. The ministry also expanded online citizenship recommendation services at local levels and continued coordination under the Digital Nepal Framework.
The report also mentions relief and support-related work for those affected by the Gen-Z movement of Bhadra 23 and 24, including immediate relief, identity cards for injured persons, support for martyr families and coordination with district administration offices. In the security sector, the ministry held several central security committee meetings, issued instructions to district administrations and security agencies, managed 24-hour control and public call response systems, supported rescue flights during disasters and coordinated election-related security arrangements.
