Health Ministry Removes 193 Officeholders Across Councils, Academies and Health Institutions Under New Ordinance

The Ministry of Health and Population has published a press release stating that officeholders in institutions under the ministry have been automatically relieved of their positions under the Ordinance on Special Arrangements for the Removal of Public Officeholders, 2083, issued on Baisakh 19, 2083. The ministry’s five-page notice lists 193 positions affected by the decision.

The affected bodies include major regulatory councils and health institutions such as the Ayurveda Medical Council, Nepal Health Research Council, Nepal Nursing Council, Nepal Health Professional Council, Health Insurance Board, Nepal Medical Council, and several other statutory health bodies. The decision also covers senior officeholders in health science academies and institutions, including B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, National Academy of Medical Sciences, Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences and Rapti Academy of Health Sciences.

The positions listed include chairpersons, members, vice-chairpersons, vice-chancellors, registrars, rectors, deans, directors, hospital directors and representatives on various councils and governing bodies. The ministry said the removals take effect automatically in accordance with the ordinance and released the detailed institution-wise and position-wise list for public information.
