The Ministry of Health and Population has responded to reports circulating in the media and on social networks alleging that ministry employees had misused fuel by recording it against vehicles that were burned and destroyed during the Gen Z movement. The ministry said it took the allegations seriously and launched a formal investigation to establish the facts.
A probe committee headed by a joint secretary-level official was formed on Baisakh 15, 2083. According to the ministry, the committee examined police records relating to the burned vehicles, fuel records, payment details and other relevant documents. Based on its review and analysis, the committee concluded that fuel had not been misused in the names of the destroyed vehicles.
The ministry has urged media organisations, including social media platforms, not to publish or circulate confusing, misleading or inaccurate information on the issue. It also reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance, asking that information be shared only on the basis of verified facts.
