Summary:

The Ministry of Education and Sports has instructed all 77 Education Development and Coordination Units to investigate reports of community school teachers participating in political party activities and initiate necessary legal action.

The Government of Nepal has directed all 77 Education Development and Coordination Units to investigate community school teachers allegedly participating in political party programmes. In a circular dated Ashoj 9, 2083 BS, the Ministry of Education and Sports stated that reports had emerged through social media and other communication channels about teachers working in community schools in districts including Baitadi, Baglung, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Mugu, Rautahat and Salyan participating in partisan political activities. The ministry emphasized that such involvement could violate the professional conduct requirements applicable to teachers.

Where violations are established, the authorities must initiate necessary action in accordance with existing laws and regulations. The directive, issued through the School Education Division, was also forwarded to the Department of Education for information and coordination.

The circular does not identify individual teachers or confirm disciplinary action against specific employees. Instead, it directs education authorities to verify reported incidents and take evidence-based measures to uphold professional conduct and political neutrality within Nepal’s community school system.
