The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it has received unofficial information through Nepal’s Honorary Consul General in Tehran that a local court in Iran has ordered the release of detained Nepali citizen Amrit Jha.

According to the ministry, detailed information regarding the court order is still awaited. The ministry said necessary coordination and diplomatic efforts are ongoing through the Honorary Consul General in Tehran and the Embassy of Nepal in Doha.

The government is also working to complete the required procedures to facilitate Jha’s return to Nepal.
