Summary:

Nepal and China reviewed ongoing cooperation projects and agreed on measures to accelerate the implementation of priority development programs.

The third meeting of the Mechanism for Facilitation on the Implementation of Nepal-China Cooperation Programmes and Projects in Nepal was held in Kathmandu on 2 June 2026. The meeting was co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming.

During the meeting, both sides conducted a comprehensive review of the progress of ongoing Nepal-China economic and development cooperation programmes and projects. While expressing satisfaction with the progress achieved so far, the two sides agreed on specific measures to ensure the timely and effective implementation of projects that require immediate attention.

The Nepali delegation included senior officials from various ministries and government agencies responsible for implementing Nepal-China cooperation projects, while the Chinese delegation comprised senior officials from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

Established under a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 21 June 2018, the mechanism serves as a platform to regularly monitor Nepal-China development programmes, identify implementation challenges, and coordinate solutions to ensure smooth project execution.
