Nepal and Denmark Deepen Ties with Focus on Green Growth and Innovation

Summary:

Nepal and Denmark have agreed to expand cooperation in clean energy, investment, tourism, technology and climate action during bilateral consultations in Kathmandu.

Nepal and Denmark reviewed their bilateral relationship and explored new avenues for cooperation during the Third Meeting of the Nepal–Denmark Bilateral Consultation Mechanism, held in Kathmandu on 16 June 2026.

The two sides expressed satisfaction over the friendly relations that have existed since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1967 and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation. They also agreed to mark the 60th anniversary of Nepal–Denmark diplomatic relations in 2027.

During the meeting, Nepal highlighted the government’s ongoing economic reforms and efforts to create a more favorable environment for foreign investment. Discussions focused on enhancing economic cooperation in areas such as clean energy, trade and investment, tourism, information technology and digital innovation.

Both sides noted that recently elected governments in Nepal and Denmark provide a fresh opportunity to advance cooperation based on shared values of good governance, transparency, sustainable development and democracy.

The consultations also covered regional and global issues of mutual concern, including climate change, achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and cooperation in multilateral forums. Officials from both countries expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to expand across a range of sectors in the coming years.
