The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has issued a circular to all rural municipalities and municipalities regarding urgent cleaning of drainage systems.

According to the ministry, the Infrastructure Development Ministry had earlier requested that drains along natural outlets, canals and road sides be cleaned and kept clear before the monsoon. The Federal Affairs Ministry has now forwarded the request to all local levels for necessary action.

The ministry has asked local governments to carry out the required cleaning work and take steps to keep drainage systems functional so that possible waterlogging and flood-related problems can be reduced during the rainy season.
