Foreign Ministry Organizes Economic Diplomacy Program in Karnali to Promote Trade, Investment and Tourism

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Government of Karnali Province, organized a program on “Economic Diplomacy in Karnali Province for the Promotion of Export Trade, Investment and Tourism” in Birendranagar, Surkhet, on 7 April 2026.

Addressing the program, Karnali Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel stressed the importance of coordination among federal, provincial and local governments for the effective implementation of economic diplomacy-related policies and programs to achieve economic growth and prosperity. Provincial Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Rajeev Bikram Shah highlighted hydropower, sports tourism and organic product exports as key sectors for Karnali’s economic development.

Speakers at the event emphasized integrating economic diplomacy into provincial development strategies, strengthening policy coordination, and promoting local-level initiatives to attract investment and tourism. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Investment Board Nepal, FNCCI, NATTA and provincial ministries also presented their views and sectoral opportunities during the program.
