The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has issued a public notice warning individuals and organizations against the illegal import, storage, transportation, and sale of chemical fertilizers in Nepal. The ministry stated that only fertilizers approved and certified under the Chemical Fertilizer Control Order, 2055, are legally allowed for distribution and use in the country.

According to the notice, complaints have been received regarding the sale of unauthorized and low-quality fertilizers falsely marketed as certified products. The ministry warned that such practices can harm agricultural production, soil quality, crop productivity, and farmers’ livelihoods. It emphasized that legal action will be taken against anyone involved in unauthorized fertilizer trading activities.

The government has also urged farmers to buy fertilizers only from authorized sellers and verify quality certification before purchase. Authorities announced that monitoring and inspection activities will be strengthened nationwide to prevent illegal fertilizer business and ensure the supply of safe and quality fertilizers to farmers.
