The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has issued a public notice directing Senior Geologist Gautam Prasad Khanal of the Department of Mines and Geology to submit an explanation for his prolonged unauthorized absence within 15 days or face possible dismissal from government service.

The Government of Nepal has issued a 15-day public notice to Senior Geologist Gautam Prasad Khanal, an officer serving in the Nepal Engineering Service, Geology Group, General Geology Subgroup, at the Department of Mines and Geology. According to the notice published by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies on Shrawan 16, 2083 BS, Khanal, whose employee identification number is 201294, has remained absent from duty without informing the concerned authorities since Shrawan 9, 2082 BS. Despite repeated correspondence requesting him to report for duty, the ministry stated that he has neither returned to work nor provided a satisfactory explanation for his absence.

Following a secretarial-level decision on Shrawan 14, 2083 BS, the ministry instructed Khanal to submit a written explanation, accompanied by clear reasons for his absence, to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies within 15 days. The notice warns that failure to respond within the prescribed period could result in dismissal from government service with disqualification for future government employment, in accordance with Section 61(1)(b) of the Civil Service Act, 2049, read with Section 59(b)(1). The announcement initiates a disciplinary procedure and does not confirm that Khanal has already been dismissed.
