The Ministry of Health and Population has instructed 28 subordinate and affiliated institutions to provide consolidated details of vacant posts within three days. The circular, dated 2083/06/14, was sent to major institutions including Bir Hospital, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences’ Western Regional Hospital, the Department of Health Services, Department of Drug Administration, National Public Health Laboratory, National Tuberculosis Control Center, Narayani Hospital, Bharatpur Hospital, Koshi Hospital, Dadeldhura Hospital, Kanti Children’s Hospital and Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, among others.
The four-page directive follows requests received from several ministries and covers specified gazetted second- and third-class technical positions linked to different government services and professional groups. These include positions associated with forest and environment-related services, various Nepal Engineering Service groups and subgroups, civil engineering disciplines under the urban development sector, and designated Nepal Education Service categories. Health institutions holding such sanctioned posts have been asked to identify positions that are currently vacant or became vacant during the relevant fiscal period.
Each institution must submit the information in a prescribed table showing the service, group/subgroup, class, post, total approved positions, number currently working and vacancy numbers. Vacancies must be separated into categories such as promotion, open competition and other reasons, while institutions must also report the total vacant posts and the number being requested. The form additionally requires details of posts vacated because of retirement, resignation or death, including the employee’s name and date of vacancy.
The ministry has asked the concerned bodies to return the completed consolidated vacancy information within three days and has also directed that the circular be uploaded to its website. The exercise is intended to give the government an updated picture of vacant technical manpower positions across institutions under the health sector and related service cadres.
