Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi held a courtesy meeting with Norwegian Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Dagny Mjøs at the ministry on 2083 Jestha 4.
During the meeting, Minister Badi highlighted the friendly and cooperative relations between Nepal and Norway, noting that Norway has been an important development partner for Nepal. She appreciated Norway’s support in areas such as good governance, climate and environment, gender equality and inclusive development.
Minister Badi said the ministry is working in areas including women’s empowerment, child rights protection, dignified life for senior citizens, rights of persons with disabilities, inclusion of gender and sexual minorities, social security, gender-responsive budgeting and intergovernmental coordination. She also mentioned that climate change has affected women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and marginalized communities, and said cooperation could be expanded in climate-sensitive social protection, women- and child-focused policies and capacity development.
Ambassador Mjøs shared Norway’s experience in women’s participation, legal systems, social protection, the Nordic welfare model and child protection. She expressed Norway’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Nepal in gender equality, social justice, inclusive development, climate adaptation and human rights.
