The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has forwarded a request to all rural municipalities and municipalities to support the celebration of the 73rd International Sagarmatha Day.

The request follows a letter from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, which stated that May 29, the day the world’s highest peak Sagarmatha was first climbed, is observed every year as International Sagarmatha Day. This year’s celebration falls on May 29, 2026, corresponding to 2083 Jestha 15.

According to the notice, a main celebration committee meeting decided that federal, provincial and local levels should organize various programs either individually or jointly during Jestha 9 to Jestha 15, 2083. The aim is to celebrate the day in a grand and participatory manner across the country.

This year’s slogan for International Sagarmatha Day is “Sagarmatha: Identity and Pride of Nepal.” The federal affairs ministry has asked local levels to take necessary action and coordinate for the celebration.
