The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has released its periodic public disclosure for Magh to Chaitra 2082 under Section 5(3) of the Right to Information Act, 2064. The document presents the ministry’s role, organizational structure, services, responsible officials, work process, completed activities, information requests, and income-expenditure details.

According to the disclosure, the ministry functions as the central government body for law drafting, legal reform, legal opinion, treaty-related advice, Nepal Gazette publication, judicial administration coordination, parliamentary affairs, mutual legal assistance and access to justice. The ministry has an approved permanent staff structure of 105 positions and works mainly with other government ministries and agencies rather than providing direct public services.

During the review period, the ministry completed 19 legal drafting and consent-related tasks, including work on principles for new laws, ordinances, amendment bills, rules and formation orders. It also provided legal opinions on four subjects, prepared written replies in 29 court cases, gave opinions or consent on 17 treaty, agreement and international law-related matters, and edited 84 notices for publication in the Nepal Gazette.

The report also states that under the delegated legislation registration process, 116 regulations, 153 procedures, 17 bylaws, 185 directives and 30 standards had been registered so far. The ministry received information requests from four applicants on issues including the Legislation Act, rights-related legal documents, ministry staffing and vacancy details, and appointment-related legal questions.
