Women Ministry Holds Subject Committee Meeting on Women, Children and Social Development Issues

The Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens held a subject committee meeting to strengthen coordination among federal, provincial and local levels on women, children, senior citizens and social inclusion programs.

The Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens held a meeting of the subject committee formed under Section 22 of the Federal, Provincial and Local Level Coordination and Interrelationship Act, 2077 in Kathmandu on 2083 Baisakh 16. The meeting was chaired by Minister Sita Badi.

The meeting was attended by social development ministers from different provinces, officials from national commissions, the National Planning Commission, provincial secretaries, representatives of federal bodies, district coordination committee representatives and local-level officials. The meeting approved the Subject Committee Meeting Operation Procedure, 2083 and reviewed programs financially transferred to provincial and local levels.

The meeting discussed several key issues, including disability rights, senior citizen protection, NGO operation, air rescue programs, human trafficking control, gender-based violence prevention, women’s development, gender mainstreaming, child rights committees at provincial and local levels, child welfare officers, ending child marriage, juvenile correction home management, monitoring of child homes and implementation of the child-friendly budget code.

The committee decided to strengthen policy-level and implementation-level coordination among all three levels of government. Minister Badi urged all concerned bodies to actively implement the decisions made by the meeting and expressed confidence that the decisions would be effectively carried out.
